Lawn Mower Guide Tip #1 – Beware of Craftsman
Lawn Mower Guide Tip #1 – Beware of Craftsman
Here’s a good lawn mower guide tip when buying new. Once in
your life, you will end up taking care of a lawn, and that means you will be
owning a lawn mower. These little 2 stroke machines are genius inventions, but
lately, they are built with cheaper alloys, plugs and plastic. This means they
break down faster if you don’t buy the right one or take care of your cheaper
built one. This article will reflect buying the right lawn mower. If you are a
homeowner, you really should pay attention to this article.
We used to buy Craftsman lawnmowers from Sears. 20 years
ago, this meant that a lawnmower would run for at least 10 years if you changed
the plugs and oil regularly. The investment was a good one because a $400
lawnmower would pay for itself quickly. Now, when you buy a Craftsman, you
would be lucky if the lawnmower lasted 2 years. Especially with a commercial
company such as ourselves whom mow hundreds of lawns weekly running through
dirt, sand and rocks at times.
Why is this? How come you cannot buy quality anymore? Well,
there are a number of things, but we recently noticed how Craftsman does not
respond to accusations about their tools being made in China and Mexico on the
cheap. It is no secret that the quality of life reflects the quality of
products where they are manufactured (not assembled) and we can only assume
that Craftsman lost its edge by outsourcing. With that being said, we can
safely recommend that you do not buy a Craftsman lawn mower unless it’s 20
years old.
Honestly, we are just as disappointment as you are reading
this article. We LOVED our Craftsman! We used to seriously trash the 2 strokes
because they never broke down. When we started our business almost 30 years
ago, we didn’t understand accounting and had to rely on our equipment to last.
Now, things are way different. We have to manually inspect our equipment daily
to make sure they last at least 3 – 5 years and worth the investment. Gone are
the days of set it and forget it.
